NEWBORN

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR NEWBORN SESSION

WHEN TO BOOK

  • The best time to book your newborn session is when the baby will be under two weeks / under 14 days old.

  • It’s best to set a date in advance, approximately 7 days after your due date. As we know, babies have their own schedule and decide when it’s time to come out.

  • As soon as possible after you give birth, contact us to reconfirm the newborn photoshoot date.

  • If you missed the newborn moment of under 2 weeks, it’s still possible to book a session up to 2-3 months. After that, it will become a milestone session. Be sure to inform me of what age they’ll be at the time of the scheduled photoshoot.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Newborn sessions require more time in general.

  • I instruct you to keep your baby awake for as many hours as possible before arriving to your shoot.

  • This is to ensure the baby is asleep and calm for the duration of the photoshoot.

  • Newborn sessions are mainly held in the morning.

  • Breastfeeding the baby is essential as a hungry baby will cry until they’re fed.

  • The feeding time is accounted for during the shoot; that’s one of the reasons why the sessions are longer.

  • Depending on the collection you choose, we may finish on time or we may go over the scheduled time. Don’t plan anything after your appointment as the time may vary.

  • The poses will be done in a swaddle, romper, covered nude with or without a bonnet, and creative outfits (ex: wings). Avoid bringing bulky clothes as it will take away from the baby.

  • To keep the baby warm, there will be a space heater close to the baby (yes, year-round). Bring layers for yourself so it’ll be easy to take off if you get hot.

  • Please pay close attention to the preparation guide that will be emailed to you to ensure the session runs smoothly.

WHAT TO BRING

  • It’s important to come prepared for your shoot by bringing the following items: Your regular diaper bag, diapers, hairbrush, pacifier (even if you normally do not use it/please bring one to the session), a white onesie, change of clothes for the baby, and a blanket/swaddle.

  • I also encourage you to bring sentimental items. This could be special props or accessories with their name, baby shoes, an ultrasound, a romper, a teddy bear, or anything personal to you and your family that can be photographed with the baby.
